New address for Saraj is 1300 50th St. in West Des Moines (in the old Phat Chefs location. The restaurant was meant to open in April but as of May 19th it's still not open

Please note Saraj will be moving locations from the end of march, is moving to 50th street in west des moines

Saraj has been taken over my new owners, and have changed one thing that really annoyed me from before, and that was the hours it was open. Before they were meant to be open 7 days a week 11am til 9pm, but i have made the 25 mile round trip and been disappointed to find the place was closed. I think after the 3rd or 4th time of driving to get something and finding it closed, i decided to give it a miss. But it's close to a friends, and drove past and saw the sign saying new owners, and each time i've been since they've been open. They are closed Monday's, but open every other day until 9 (unless there's bad weather, when they will close at 7:30). Food id still great though, best gyros in town

If you like Gyros, try it with Bosnian Bread. Comes in a huge fresh baked bun, about that size of my head !

Stopped by Saraj for lunch today to place an order to go. Ordered a couple Gyro sandwiches for my wife and I. While I waited- the first thing that came to mind was how clean and simple Saraj was. They have about 10 items on the menu which I can appreciate. I love simple menus for one reason- the food tends to be really fresh. They have about small dining area with a TV. I would say they serve a authentic Gyro. They start with a homemade grilled flat bread, well seasoned lamb, some lightly grilled onions, tomatoes slices, and tzatziki sauce. If you like Gyros- give this little place a try.
