Bandana's- Bar-B-Q is Southern Style BBQ - seasoned with a "dry rub" and cooked sauceless, then hand-cut to order straight from the smoker. All Bandana's pork, beef, chicken and ribs are specially prepared over a pit of select hardwoods to create our signature smoked flavor. This slow cooking process - 14 hours for pork butts and special beef cuts, 5 hours for ribs and chicken - makes the meat tender and tasty, and gives it a reddish color known as a "smoke line." Our real wood smokers operate 24 hours a day, so you can "smell that smoke" any time you visit Bandana's!

Only been once, the bbq chicken nacho's are a great starter to share, or make a meal in itself. Had the BBQ pulled pork sandwich as did a friend, and had a bad burnt taste to it. Waitress informed the kitchen who took the meal off the menu for that day when they tasted it. But the replacement beef sandwich they gave me was good. Love the award winning sweet sauce, could drink that on it's own !

I live in Ankeny and this is the BBQ place we go most often. The meat is slow-smoked and very tender, and there is a wide variety of sauces to choose from. The sweet and smoky sauce they have is the best in town, I believe. I even buy bottles to take home with me. Service is almost always fast and friendly, and the price is reasonable.
